At least our artist isn't dead... ...but I'm not sure what his talk of abandoning regular updates means. I know I didn't contact him about his lack of updating because (a) his last newspost mentioned he was fagged out from shooting a student film, & (b) my 94-year-old grandfather died last week & we have been busy with the funeral. (I was going to do it in another day or so, though. ) If this has given him the impression that nobody cares enough to warrant his continued creative work, I can only wonder if the rest of you have as good an excuse? Of course, some webcomics actually update more frequently without a definite schedule (infamously, the Irregular Webcomic has done it daily for years). We can only hope for such an outcome. ;D

Sorry to hear about your grandfather. I dunno - I'd say on the one hand, it sucks our dose of Dreamleak stuff may be slowing down. On the other hand, and more importantly, I'd rather updates be just "whenever they're ready", instead of the artist burning out and quitting alltogether. That's happened to a couple of my favorite webcomics so far, and I'd rather that didn't happen here.

It's sad news to hear about your Grandfather, Publius. I hope he went peacefully.
Dreamleak isn't going to end anytime soon. Infact, I don't really consider it even started yet! Everything so far has just been setting up the premise. I've probably only used one of the ideas I originally thought of right at the beginning of it all. Everything else I've sort of improvised as it's slowly progressed. There's so much more I want to do, but at the moment it's just getting to a point in the story where I can do these things. So this is not the end. Not by a long shot.
To prove it I even went and picked up a second hand Wacom graphics tablet today! Why would I do something like that if I wasn't even going to continue using it?
As for the update schedule, Dreamleak really is a labour of love. It's also probably a pretty stupid thing to be doing at this point in my life. So far the all the updates have done is keep me in a permanent position of extra unnecessary stress on top of my course work. This may seem unfair and arrogant of me, but I don't actually owe it anyone for me to keep consistently updating. So that is why I've decided to scrap specific update days.
It gives me the freedom to work comfortably on my course while letting me just draw Dreamleak when the feeling takes me. After all, that's how it really all started anyway!
Not very professional of me I know, but then again, being a webcomic artist isn't my profession!

Would you update more if we pay you with currencies and/or buns?

Currency buns do sound quite appealing...but no, probably not. Admittedly, it would be nice to get a wee bit of money to help cover the hosting costs of the site and maybe even a little to help me survive uni, but such ideas doesn't seem very realistic really.
Also, I find donation buttons on small webcomics like Dreamleak always seem a bit over assuming of their popularity and thus it looks embaressing. I don't want things looking more embaressing around here than they already are!
In short: if you really want me to update more pay me with friendly emails and constructive feedback. That sort of stuff usually encourages me to get on with the next strip!

I'm sorry to hear that Publius. But no, no excuse Not very professional of me I know, but then again, being a webcomic artist isn't my profession! I once read a webcomic where the artist said "this is only a slight hobby so I don't plan to update much". How often did he actually update? Well, in a 5 month period, he updated with ONE PAGE! Then flamed his readers for complaining. So at this point, you're FAR more professional than him. Really, don't worry about a less frequent schedule if you manage to update once a month for the next year, I'll still come back and read it. It's good stuff.
