Hurrah, I get to post a cliche topic. So I'm interested in where other people hail from. No need to be more specific than counties or states, I don't want to be responsible for you getting spam mail.

I'm from North Wales in the Uk. Nice place to visit, wouldn't want to live here....bugger.

I'm going to guess GtF is also from the UK. Am I right?

I'm from Florida. Nice place to vacation, and the summers are surprisingly bearable, but the other people here -- AUGH! (I moved here from CT 5 or so years ago, so I'm exempt, ha-ha.) My heart is still in Connecticut though... And I found out about this from CYS, which I learned about through another webcomic -- or was it an ad? I dunno.

I'm from South West England - the bit that sticks out underneath Wales.

It rains here. In the summer the rain is warm in the winter the rain is cold.

Aye! Torn between a wee place in the Scottish borders and the soul destroying yet strangely exciting Newcastle upon Tyne, that's me.

I love North Wales though, stayed with some friends near Colwyn Bay a few summers back. We camped at the foot of Mount Snowdon, got lost up a giant misty slag heap and bothered a few sheep. All in all it was quite a good trip.

Also, visiting Blaenau Ffestiniog is like wandering into Mordor!

As stated, I'm from California, specifically Claremont, which is a suburb of LA. I go to Harvey Mudd College, which is also in Claremont, which many of my friends though I was crazy to do. I'm dubious of the assertion that there's a better college in the entire world, though, at least for me.

I do envy you guys who live in Wales. I've only been for a short time once as a vacation from Scotland, but both countries are places I'd gladly live.

It's quite a sad thing that all I know about American cities like LA comes from how they're represented in films or in the general media. And usually it's pretty bad stuff. Seedy gangstas in da hood pimpin' things, volcanoes popping up in the centre of town and having cyborgs from the future chasing you down storm drains in trucks with shotguns and explosions and such.

Please tell me this is exactly how it is in real life.

Sorry I can't corroborate on this one, but LA isn't all from the movies. There is gang violence, but not so much the awesome movie kind where the good guys win. Luckily I don't live near any of that. There is a LOT of traffic, which you may have seen in movies, and there are ridiculously constructed freeway exchanges. There are also an insane ammount of suburbs. Claremont is a really nice town, though. It's about 1.5 hours from the downtown, although that could be as much as 3 or 4 with traffic... one of the things I dislike about LA is the lack of awesome history. No kings were killed here, no barons eloped from here, no famous historical figures journeyed through here. There's one castle that I know of, which is awesome in its own way, but there aren't real castles...

... I'm comfortable here, and far from complaining, I think that Claremont is a really nice town, but it's missing some things, like strong long-lasting winds and cold winter days that I really like (every now and then)...

Of course, there's something to be said for sandals year-round. So... I should probably get to sleep instead of continuing to write this... I guess I'll just finish with: what do you like about Wales/England.

I happen to think that the most interesting thing about Los Angeles is that the first "white" settlers there died of starvation. Eight million plus people now live in an area which isn't capable of supporting human life!

Personally, I was born and have so far lived in northern Texas, in the enormous mess known by its airport callsign as DFW. As to my home -- just look up, three weeks out of four.

Okay, I have no problem with you living on my ceiling but please don't leave footprints.

Hmm so what do I like about Wales? Well, my first answer would have to be the scenery which is often pleasant and sometimes breath taking. An area south of Bangor called the Ogwen valley has some amazing views. Of course, this doesn't apply everywhere, some of the towns on the north coast are complete dumps but as long as you know where to look, it's good. Second thing would have to be the weather, we get a lot of very cold yet completely clear days in winter right now and those are enjoyable. And last thing would have to be the fact that Wales is REALLY underpopulated. It's 1500 square miles bigger than Beijing and has a third of the population

ideal for wandering in the hills on a cold day with no one around.

I'm from the United States, rural Alabama, to be specific. No, I do not own a banjo. (Mandolin, yes. Banjo, no.)

It really is quite beautiful around here, as long as you don't look at people's yards or the people themselves. The "southern belle" is a myth. (Well, no, not really. It's just all the southern belles tend to stay in the cities.)

Anyway, I'm studying at a university by the name of Jacksonville State University. So if you want to look up my home, just give their math department a ring.
